About the Blog

For most people passing 50 is a pretty momentous occasion. For some it’s daunting but it shouldn’t be. It’s a great age to be and there are huge pleasures ahead to enjoy if you maintain your health well enough to appreciate them.
Having good health and fitness at 50 and maintaining it into your 80s, 90s and even beyond is a realistic goal that everyone can have. If you are already fit then your challenge is to keep going and make realistic adjustments gradually as necessary, if up until now the pressures of work and life have held you back from getting fit then changing that will have a transformative effect on your whole life now and in future years.

This blog is about sharing a continuing personal journey and my personal passion for maintaining a highly active and healthy lifestyle at 50 and well beyond using the tools that are available to all of us and which are completely free: diet, exercise and positive attitude.

I have exercised my whole life and maintaining good health has been a constant aim since I was a teenager. During that time though I have had a normal work and family life. I have had successes and failures and had my resolve challenged at times by everyday life but I have kept on pushing forward. What I have learned I have constantly assessed and reassessed to try and understand how I can make my health and fitness serve my bigger goals of living a long, active and fulfilling life.

I am passionate about sharing what I have discovered about myself by long trial and error with anyone interested in maximising their own health and vitality as they look forward, like me, to their senior years. Even if you are younger there is a lot to learn from people who have been where you are now.

There are an infinite number of ways in which you can go about getting fit and the internet offers a bewildering smorgasbord of techniques and fantastic athletes to demonstrate them. As the saying goes though, it's not so much what you do but the way that you do it and success always comes down to just two main things: mastering a few basic principles and thought processes and having support when you need it.

As the site develops you will find articles on all aspects of fitness and health over 50 but more importantly it’s here to help you see the wood for the trees and provide a forum for asking questions and sharing experience in a mature, supportive and respectful environment.
